MNP or mobile number portability, allows mobile phone number users to migrate from one mobile network operator to another without changing the mobile phone number. In other words MNP is a process of retaining a mobile number even after changing the service provider. MNP provides freedom to the mobile users or subscribers to terminate the service of a network operator without any fear of losing the mobile number. Hence this technology would help mobile users to switch to a new service provider in case of any inconvenience with the current network operator.

In India Mobile number portability can be availed by both postpaid and prepaid customers and works on GSM as well as CDMA platforms.

You would get an SMS which contains a unique ‘porting code’.
Step 3.
